Cultural Diversity Week is a time to come together as a community to celebrate our multicultural heritage and identity. This year, there is a range of great opportunities to get involved in the week and embrace Victoria’s diversity.
Primary School Short Film Competition
The Primary School Short Film Competition calls on budding young filmmakers to show us what multiculturalism means to them. Pupils from Prep to Grade 6 are invited to produce a short film exploring the theme – ‘This is what a Victorian looks like’ in up to five minutes.
The winning films are announced and screened at a presentation ceremony during Victoria’s Multicultural Festival.
The Victorian Multicultural Commission is proud to have had the support of our Cultural Diversity Week Museum Sponsor for the Primary School Short Film Competition.
VMC Film Festival
The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) Film Festival calls on Victorians, young and old, to show us what multiculturalism means to their generation through the lens of everyday stories. Shortlisted films will be screened at the VMC Film Festival at the newly renovated Capitol Theatre in May 2019, where we will present winners with some great prizes.

Host an event
They say there's no more powerful way to get to know someone than by sharing personal stories or experiences. Cultural Diversity Week invited Victorians to host an event, to create a conversation about belonging and to engage attendees via our events calendar.
Spread the word
Many Victorians helped to spread the word about Cultural Diversity Week in their workplace or community with our promotional resources.
