Cultural Diversity Week is a time to come together as a community to celebrate our multicultural heritage and identity. This year, there were a range of great opportunities to get involved in the week and embrace Victoria’s diversity.
VMC Film Festival
The VMC Film Festival is a short-film festival showcasing the stories of emerging filmmakers from diverse cultural backgrounds across Victoria and Australia.
The third annual VMC Film Festival will bring stories of everyday multiculturalism to the big screen that contribute to ‘making diversity great again’.
Tickets are now on sale for the one-night-only 2019 VMC Film Festival at ACMI, Fed Square on Thursday 23 May.
Host an event
They say there's no more powerful way to get to know someone than by sharing personal stories or experiences. Each year, Cultural Diversity Week invites Victorians to host an event, to create a conversation about belonging and to engage attendees.

Primary School Film Competition
The Primary School Film Competition called on budding young filmmakers to show us what multiculturalism means to them. Pupils from Prep to Grade 6 were invited to produce a short film exploring the theme – ‘This is what a Victorian looks like’ in up to five minutes.
The winning films were screened at a presentation ceremony during Victoria’s Multicultural Festival.
