From African drumming and Caribbean steel bands, to yoga for kids and salsa dancing workshops, Melbourne’s Moomba Festival is a hive of activity that showcases the diversity of our incredible city. Join in four whole days of festivities for Moomba Festival 2018 at the Palm Lawn in the heart of Melbourne’s Alexandra Gardens from 9 – 12 March 2018.
Start your experience at the festival with a very special Welcome to Country address by Wurundjeri Elders. Then, if you’re keen to learn a new dance step or two, put on your dancing shoes and join the Moomba dance floor. Dance enthusiasts can travel all the way to Jamaica with Jungle City Studio at dance hall sessions or channel your inner movie star as the team from The Naach Box teach you the best Bollywood moves.
To satisfy the hungry, food trucks will be pulling up at the festival offering a variety of tasty options from around the world. The team at Copa Grill will also be offering delicious Brazilian BBQ while Hiro Poke Bar be serving healthy and fresh Japanese poke bowls. When you’re finished with savoury dishes, visit Kalloni Little Dessert Island to sample some luscious Greek sweets with coffee.
A highlight of Melbourne’s Moomba Festival, the Moomba Parade is a massive showcase of international music, dance and culture. Get your camera ready – colourful and energetic performers will lead the parade down a new route in Kings Domain, bringing life and energy into heart of the city. Be inspired by the mighty Chinese dragon, while Caribbean dancers don vibrant feather headdresses and the Spirit of Pasifika share music and dance from the islands of Polynesia.
